I have a 1999 Peugeot 2006 that recently started giving the above problem with the engine. The problem does not always occur, however, sometimes when pressing the clutch the engine’s rpm goes so low (well below 1000 – have seen it going as low as 200) that it either shuts off or is close to shutting off. I have taken the car to a mechanic but they weren’t able to fix it. Does anybody have any hint?
