I have a towbar but I’ve no idea if my car would be up to towing a ‘van, being a diesel I suspect it might be OK as the clutch, brakes etc are also strong but it’s such a little car! Any thoughts? It’s only a smallish ‘van.

Your car will probably get the van moving however you will overheat every fluid in it. You will also have a tough time stopping which will be very unsafe. Look in your owners manual for details. Remember your stopping twice the weight with your standard brake system.

I guess it depends on the van. If you still have the owners manual it’ll tell you the maximum recommended towing weight. I suspect it wouldn’t be much more than 500kg at the most. It also depends upon the tow bar and its weight rating.
