The turbo on my Passat has been shot for years, and I’ve just settled for greatly reduced power. But I’m starting to miss it, and I know their are aftermarket turbos out there. If it were yours, would you spend the money? Would you go aftermarket? And do you have tips to find a reasonable mechanic to do the job? My usual mechanic refuses to work with aftermarket products….
I plan to have the car two or three more years. Thanks for your input.
Also, will my extended warranty cover it? When I bought it the dealer said something about his friend blah blah blah, same problem but her engine blew, if she had the warranty she would have been protected. My friend borrowed my car so she could screw around on her bf, and when I got it back it was screwed up. She busted the oil pan.
When I turn my left or right signals they don’t show up on the dashboard neither do they work outside (front of the car and back). My hazard lights were working for a little bit, but all of a sudden they start clicking off aswell. Is it a bad fuse?
The windshield (especially on the driver’s side) of my 2003 Volkswagen Passat has frequent condensation that is really hard to clear. I have seen some similar questions, and the suggestion that it could be a clogged drain or filter, but I’m curious to see if anyone has other ideas on what is causing it and how to fix it.

I can lock all the doors (4) on my 2002 Passat with the remote but I can only unlock the driver door with it. The other 3 doors will not unlock with the remote.

I cannot open the rear driver side door of my 1997 VW Passat from either the inside or outside. It was already stuck so that I couldn’t open it from the outside. Then, while trying to oil and clean it, so that it could possibly open from the outside, I accidently switched it to “child proof” and now I cannot open it at all. I have pulled, pushed and banged! Nothing! Other than taking it to a dealership to have them open it, what do you suggest?
I need be able to take the battery out and i cannot figure out how to take the shroud in that area off. Can someone help with very specific step by step instructions and pics if possible. I’m really stumped.
I am seeing small amounts of water dripping from the headliner of my Passat. The dealership told me that it’s the drain plugs that might be clogged. They say that they can clean them but I would like to know where these drain plugs are so I can do the unclogging myself whenever.
