Why does my peugeot 406 diesel 1997 have 2 sump plugs? Is it cos it has a baffle or is the second plug just a blank for higher spec models with some kind of sender? Seems odd though to have 2

the ford crown vic and merc marquis also had 2 drain plugs. they were designed to miss the frame that goes under the engine. without the double sump it wouldn’t hold enough oil volume to keep the oil from overheating

Don’t know, but don’t worry about it a lot of Peugeot’s with alloy sumps have 2, just make sure you use the bottom one for draining the oil ( obviously )
